Aloha again - Part 2

Vandaag weer een dag op Kauai. Een prachtig en relaxed eiland.

Er stond een bezoek aan het museum van Kauai op het programma.
Een klein, maar reuze interessant museum over de geschiedenis van dit eiland.

Today another day on Kauai. A beautiful and relaxed island.
We had a visit to the museum of Kauai planned for today.
A small, but very interesting museum about the history of the island.

Hilda wilde vooral de Kapa stoffen zien hier.
Gemaakt met een oude techniek die bijna vergeten was, maar door een aantal mensen weer wordt beoefend.

Er lagen een aantal exemplaren van honderden jaren oud.
Prachtig en delicaat.

Hilda especially wanted to see te Kapa fabrics.

Made with old technics that were almost gone, but are reinvented by some people now.

There were some examples, hundreds of years old.

Beautiful and delicate.

Hanapepe. A small but fun town for a quick look.

Na het museum, een quiltwinkel en het schattige stadje Hanapepe, besloten we naar Waimea Canyon te rijden.
Een indrukwekkende rit de berg op, met een aantal prachtige uitzichten.

After the museum, a quilt store and the lovely town of Hanapepe, we decided to go to Waimea Canyon.

A impressive drive up the mountain with some amazing views.

De uitzichten gaan twee kanten op, met aan de ene kant de prachtige Stille Oceaan en aan de andere kant de Waimea Canyon. Die laatste heeft iets weg van de Grand Canyon, maar de grote broer in Arizona is aanzienlijk minder groen.

There are views in both ways, with on one side the mighty Pacific Ocean and on the other side the Waimea Canyon. The last one has some similarities with the Grand Canyon, but the big brother in Arizona is a lot less green.

There is a Pacific Missile Range Facility.
