Tijd voor een update...

De afgelopen dagen weer veel gezien hier aan de andere kant van de aardbol.

Onze laatste dag in Maui een wat rustiger dagje gedaan. 
Bij Hilda kwam de avond ervoor een migraine opzetten en dan is veel licht en geluid niet echt een optie.

Na een flinke nachtrust en een rustige ochtend daarna met een aantal dutjes en paracetamollen, was het hoofd weer tot rust gekomen en konden we toch nog een en ander doen die laatste dag.

Time for an update...

In the last days we again saw a lot on this side of the globe.

Our last day on Maui we slowed down a bit.

The evening before Hilda developed a migraine and with that a lot of light and noise isn't really an option.

After a good night sleep and a quiet morning with several asperine and beauty sleeps her head came to rest and we were able to do some stuff that day.

In het stadje Lahaina was een leuk en toeristisch straatje (Front Street) met wat winkeltjes en restaurantjes. Lahaina is qua inwoners vergelijkbaar met Ommen, maar ziet er toch ietsje anders uit.

In the city of Lahaina there is Front St. a street with lots of little shops and restaurants. Lahaina is comparable with Ommen if you look at the size of the population, but looks a bit different in most other ways.

Delen van Jurassic Park zijn op Hawaï opgenomen, T-Rexen en Raptors zul je er niet tegenkomen. Deze 'wilde' kippen komen qua DNA nog het dichtst in de buurt schat ik zo. Je ziet ze overal rondlopen hier.

Parts of Jurassic Park were filmed on Hawaii. You won't find a T-Rex or Raptor here. These 'wild' chickens are probably the closest things you wil encounter. You see them everywhere here around the islands.

De grote blikvanger langs Front Street is de enorme Banyan boom.
Voor alle duidelijkheid: DIT IS ÉÉN BOOM!!!! 😱

Vanaf de takken groeien namelijk wortels naar beneden die zodra ze de grond raken weer een nieuwe extra stam vormen. Heel uitzonderlijk en indrukwekkend.

The big eyecatcher on Front Street is an enormous Banyan tree. 

To be clear: THIS IS ONE TREE!!! 😱

On the branches new roots are growing down and they grow into new trunks when they reach the ground. Very extraordinary and impressive.

De dag sloten we af bij Nalu in Kihei. Er was live music met een mix van moderne nummers en authentieke Hawaïaanse muziek. Zeer geslaagde avond.

We ended the day at Nalu in Kihei. There was live music with a mix of modern numbers and authentic Hawaiian music. A GREAT night!

Om het kort te houden... De vlucht van Maui naar Kauai duurde aanzienlijk korter dan de tijd die we vooraf nodig hadden om in te checken. Maar we waren ruim op tijd, dus zaten op tijd in het vliegtuig.

To be short.... The flight from Maui to Kauai was considerably shorter than the time we needed on the airport to check in. But we were there on time, so we made it to the plane in time.

Na de eerste nacht hier een mooie rit gemaakt naar Hanalei in het noorden van het eiland.
Een mooie rit met mooie stops. 
Hanalei is een klein leuk dorp met winkeltjes en we hebben er ook heerlijk geluncht.

After the first night we made a nice ride to Hanalei at the northern part of the island.
A beautiful drive with beautiful stops.

Hanalei is a small but fun town with shops and we had a great lunch there.

Another 'raptor'

Inmiddels weer terug op de kamer dit blog te typen en wat teksten te bedenken bij de foto's.
Hierboven een blowhole waar bij hoogwater prachtige fonteinen uit tevoorschijn komen.

We're back at our room typing this blog and trying to come up with some words that go by the pictures.
Above here you see a blowhole where at high tide you can see some amazing fountains.

We sloten vandaag af met een BBQ.
Lekker vlees en een stuk geroosterde ananas.

Ananas en Hawaii... 😐 

Daar zouden ze eens iets meer mee moeten doen.
Zou nog best eens kunnen aanslaan...

We finished the day with a BBQ.
Some good meat and a slice of roasten pineapple.

Pineapple and Hawaii... 😐 

They should do more with that.
Could be quite a hit i guess...
